Dan's Construction and Repair Blog

Hello! My name is Dan and this is my construction and repair blog. I don't work in the industry myself, I have recently used a lot of different contractors during the construction of my home. Construction contractors used machinery to dig and lay the foundations for my home before the walls and trusses where installed. A roofing company installed a metal roof and contractors installed plumbing and electrical utilities. I was very impressed with the results and I learnt lots of cool things during the completion of this project. This blog contains information which will be useful to other people who plan to work with construction contractors.

Doing Home Improvements? How To Choose The Right Cladding

If you're ready to add cladding to your home, you need to start with the right material. You might not realise how many options you have to choose from for your cladding. Luckily, choosing the right cladding doesn't need to be a stressful process. One way to make the process easier is to pinpoint your desired results. In other words, what are you looking for in a home cladding system?

If you want to increase the aesthetic appeal of your home, you can choose from any of the cladding systems. That's because all cladding systems add warmth and beauty to your home. But, if you're looking for a specific benefit from your cladding, read the list provided below. Here are some tips to help you choose the right cladding for your home.

Weather Resistance

If you want to protect your home from weather damage, aluminium siding might be your best option. Aluminium siding is durable and can withstand damage caused by the elements. This includes damage caused by wind, rain and ice. But, aluminium siding is also resistant to heat damage. That means your home will have a layer of fire protection when you install aluminium siding.

Improved Insulation

If you want to improve the insulation in your home, talk to your contractor about brick cladding. If you're like most people, brick doesn't usually come to mind when you think about residential cladding. But, brick provides many benefits that you might not have considered. Improved insulation is one of those benefits. In fact, brick cladding will keep your home cooler during the summer and warmer during the winter. So, you'll enjoy the comfort without the increased energy bills.

Low Maintenance

If maintenance is a concern of yours, it's time to move vinyl cladding to the top of your list. Some cladding materials need routine cleaning and maintenance. You won't have that concern when you choose vinyl cladding. Vinyl cladding is easy to clean. In fact, you can keep your vinyl cladding clean with only your garden hose. But, vinyl cladding is also long-lasting and low-cost, which are two more benefits to consider when choosing your residential cladding.

Versatility

If you want a custom appearance for your home, timber cladding is the way to go. One of the great things about timber cladding is that it's versatile. When you choose timber cladding, you don't need to settle on one style. You can choose between a variety of design options. Three of those options include shiplap, shake and clapboard.
