Dan's Construction and Repair Blog

Hello! My name is Dan and this is my construction and repair blog. I don't work in the industry myself, I have recently used a lot of different contractors during the construction of my home. Construction contractors used machinery to dig and lay the foundations for my home before the walls and trusses where installed. A roofing company installed a metal roof and contractors installed plumbing and electrical utilities. I was very impressed with the results and I learnt lots of cool things during the completion of this project. This blog contains information which will be useful to other people who plan to work with construction contractors.

The Various Stages of Your House Construction Project When Plumbing Work Can Be Done

One of the tradespeople you'll need to hire when you're building a new house is a plumber. A plumber will install all the plumbing required to make your house truly functional, from the water supply pipes connecting your home to the mains water supply to the drainpipes and sewer lines connecting you to the mains sewerage.

If you're going to build your house on a concrete slab foundation, you'll need to enlist the services of a plumber at various stages of your project. Continue reading on below to find out the various stages of your house construction project when a plumber will come in handy.

When you're laying the foundation of your house.

For a house slab, it is important to bring in plumbers to "rough-in" plumbing pipes that are meant to run below the flooring prior to pouring of the concrete slab. It is obviously easier to perform the rough-in work for the pipes without the flooring. This is also the right time for electricians to run conduits for electrical lines. It is important to point out that laying of gas supply pipes at this time also constitutes plumbing work. Asking a plumber to lay plumbing pipes after your concrete slab foundation has already been laid can be very expensive because more work will need to be carried out.

Before installation of insulation on the walls and finishing of the walls.

Plumbing pipes not only run through the house slab but also through the walls. For this reason, you will need to call in plumbers after the walls are in place, but not yet finished. As with the pipes running through the house slab, the pipes running through walls are easier to install before installation of insulation and application of finishing on the walls. During this time, plumbers will install and test faucets, sinks, bathtubs, toilets and other key plumbing fixtures required to finalise connection of the plumbing system.

During roof installation.

Unknown to many people, plumbers are also involved in roof installation work. Working at heights as roofing plumbers, they install gutter systems and downpipes required to direct rainwater from the rooftop away from the foundation of the house in an efficient manner.

The best way to ensure the plumbing in your new home is installed properly is to leave the job to professional plumbers at companies like A and C Plumbing. More importantly, you should involve your plumbers when planning for your construction project.
